How to Dress Sustainably at the Met Gala

The preferred choice of dressing sustainably for the Met was either vintage pieces or sustainable brands like Stella McCartney. With all the beautiful archive pieces Lagerfeld has created during his career, many celebrities chose dresses that have a sentimental value to them.

Did you Notice the Chandeliers Made out of Plastic Bottles

The exhibition, which is open to the public from Friday 5th May, will display 150 of Lagerfeld’s designs, along with his sketches from his career in the industry from 1950 until 2019. The exhibition was curated by Andrew Bolton. Architect Tadao Ando not only designed the set for the exhibition but also the decor for the red carpet, where we saw recycled water bottles in place of the traditional hedges, as well as being fashioned into chandeliers. Ando commented that he “wanted to highlight the importance of giving everyday items more than one life cycle”.

It’s refreshing to see sustainability feature so prominently at such a famous event. This really showcases how the doors of fashion are opening to offer a friendlier welcome to an environment positive industry.
